Containers without complexity.

A new simplified container management and orchestration engine for Linux

Containers are useful and provide many advantages compared to VMs but as an industry we are now at the real risk of putting people off containers due to ballooning complexity.

Using containers may require days of reading and using them seriously much more. Orchestration systems complexity is out of control wrapping more and Linux apps and infrastructure, but rather than simplifying, add more layers of complexity.

This makes adoption expensive for all segments, the time investment for individuals is significant and for any serious use case an expensive layer of 'devops' experts just for container orchestration apart from the experienced app scaling, networking, distributed storage, and systems scalability experts you would need anyway.

Complexity is not free. It extracts a huge cost in overhead, time and technical debt.

Flockport has always advocated simplicity. Today we are previewing a new container management and orchestration platfrom that massively simplifies containers, orchestration, networking, storage and more.

This allows users to gain the benefits of containers without getting bogged down. And focus on their apps and ideas where they can add maximum value.

Flockport's new platform provides repeatable container builds, an app store, orchestration across servers, multiple overlay networks and distributed storage options, service discovery, load balancing and more. All of which are designed to be easy to use.

And we don't make this claim frivolously. We have over 40 short screencasts that provide quick overviews of various Flockport subsystems so readers can hold us to account.

For a more up close perspective our installer will get Flockport on your server in 5 minutes and that's all you need to build clusters of managed servers. It will give you a real world overview of how simple it can be to start deploying apps and containers across servers and experimenting with networks, storage, discovery, HA and more.

There is also Flockbox, a lightweight VM with Flockport preinstalled that users can use to get an quick overview of how flockport works.

These screencasts have no audio. We had to make a tradeoff due to time constraints and we felt something is better than nothing. We will add audio commentary later as time permits.
